DescriptionGreek triptych. The exterior, when closed, depicts a simple brown cross on a lighter brown background with inscriptions surrounding it. Inside the central panel is divided into two registers. The larger top part depicts the deesis (Christ Pantocrator enthroned and flanked by Mary and John the Baptist) with a row of five bishops below. The triptych wings are each divided into three registers. UL: Michael archangel holding a flaming sword with Constantine and Helena beneath on either side of the cross. LL: St. George and St. Demetrios on horseback spearing a dragon and a man. UR: St. Panteleimon holding an open vessel with St. Peter and St. Paul presenting a model of a church beneath. LR: St. Theodore Tiron and St. Theodore the General on horseback spearing two dragons.Collections
