DescriptionGreek. An episode in Mary's life shortly after Christ's birth - his presentation at the temple (identified by the baldachin). And elderly man on the left holds two white doves (his hands are covered with a mantle as a sign of reverence). He is thought to be Zacharias accompanied by Elizabeth to his right. Christ is held high by a high priest whose hands are also covered by cloth. Christ's white garments are dotted with red inanticipation of his sacrifice. He reaches out to Mary who is central to the composition. (see cataloguer's comments.)
