DescriptionDouble-sided icon. The frame is carved with an egg-and-dart motif allowing each icon, both front and back, to sit in a deeply recessed plane. St. Barbara and St. Matthew both wear a blue robe with a red cloak. St. Barbara holds a white cross in her right hand and St. Matthew holds a double scroll in his covered left hand. Their expressions are earnest. In both images, the background is divided horizontally at the shoulder. The lower portion is a dark green and the top is gold.Collections
