DescriptionRussian icon. Part of a series of icons probably consisting of 12 panels. The silver frame is broader on the bottom with varying shades of blue and green enamel decoration. Christ stands in the centre of the image over the broken gates of Hell. He extends his right hand to Adam, with King Solomon and King David, John the Baptist, and two Jewish priests. On the right, Eve emerges from the grave. Several male figures stand behind her against a green landscape with the gates of Paradise above. These are guarded by a bright pink seraph. A partially nude figure of a man stands before the gates. Over Christ's mandorla, two angels, supposedly Gabriel and Raphael, hold a small black cross.Collections
