DescriptionGreek icon of St. Athanasios seated on an elaborate throne against a red and gold background. He holds a book in his left hand and forms a sign of blessing with his right. He has short grey hair and a long beard. His vestments are highly embroidered and colourful. His feet rest on a simple stool. His throne is highly ornate with foliate patterns, multiple finials and scroll embellishments. The icon is framed. The frame is carved in a foliate pattern, covered with gesso and painted dark brown.
