DescriptionThe lamp consists of three parts - the main bowl, a top cap and a pink glass bowl. The top cap is connected to the bowl by three 54cm long chains and the glass bowl sits within the main bowl. It is a liturgical oil lamp. The interior pink glass bowl holds the oil and a wick. Its exterior displays a pattern of foliate cloisonnée enamelling in red, orange, shades of green and white. There are images of seraphim in quatrefoil medallions at regular intervals around the widest point of the bowl. Parts of the base of the bowl have been pierced - a key feature of the plique-a-jour technique.
