DescriptionIn the centre Christ is shown crucified on the cross. Two angels hover to either side of the crossbeam. A soldier pushes a spear into his right side and another offers him a sponge. Two crucified men are on either side of him, the good thief, on the left, has a halo. Three female saints (Mary is one of them) stand to one side and two male saints on the other. The lower half of the panel suggests the base of a tree where three soliders gamble for Christ's clothes. On the left is a scene of Lazarus raised from the dead, and on the right Christ stands in front of a pair of closed doors and holds open his robe for Thomas and the disciples to see. The border consists of thin strip of red bole, green and a frame of olive brown.
