DescriptionCarved haematite stone head of a woman identified as Isis or, more probably, a priestess of Isis . The hairstyle is familiar to Isis statues and the figure also wears a wreath or headband with diagonal incisions terminating in stylized leaves at the back. Large eyes and pronounced eyebrows, thick lips are upturned - perhaps more portrait-like than divinity? A priestess of Isis more likely? Possibly Egyptian, ca. 1st century BC BC.Collections
