DescriptionMarble grave stele carved in deep relief with a central concave panel containing a portrait bust of a young woman. Inscription below in Greek "Atilia, Farewell". She is clad in chiton and a cloak which covers the back of her head. She wears a kind of turban but hair revealed at front as being hair parted in middle and arranged in overlapping loops. The relief is published in Parlasca, K., Trier Wincklemannsgrogramme 3, 1981, 10, pls. 11, 1; and that author suggests that the provenance of the relief is Seleukeia- on- the - Euphrates/Zeugma (modern Belkis, Turkey) in southeastern Turkey, where several slabs of the same type occur.Collections
